Teen and Young Program
ELIGIBILITY: Young men & women, 12 years of age through 25, able to function in a mostly
independent social recreation program. Must be independent in personal care areas.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Bright Star Saturdays is an inclusive social program for teens and young
adults. Participants will engage in social-emotional promoting activities like music therapy, structured arts and
crafts, movies, bingo, bowling and more. The purpose of the program is to give the participants a risk-free and
sensory sensitive environment to socialize with their peers, while enjoying preferred activities. Once
registered, participants are free to come as often as they choose.
Gym Program:
ELIGIBILITY: Young men & women, 16 years of age through adulthood, able to function in a
gym program. Applicants must be independent in personal care areas.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Participants will have the opportunity to use a full size gym to
engage in various games and physical activities. This program provides the opportunity to
participate in basketball, kickball, base running, leisure walking, race walking, relays and other
low impact physical activities. Also, individuals are provided time to personally choose physical
activities.
RECREATION PROGRAM FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES
ELIGIBILITY: Adults able to function in a mostly independent social recreation program or with
help of aide (not provided). Must be independent in personal care areas or have aide (not provided.)
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The recreation program involves such activities as sports, a bowling
tournament, socializing with friends, arts & crafts, viewing movies, and adult coloring. Special events such as
holiday parties, dances, and theme luncheons. Professional staff in special education & recreation direct the
program
