WOW Program
The Social Program Without Walls has been in operation for over ten (10) years and is for adventuresome, independent
adults with developmental disabilities, age 21 and above, who are interested in making friends and socializing with their peers. Participants visit local restaurants, recreation establishments, i.e. bowling alleys and movies, or go to shows, concerts, sporting events and museums both locally and in New York City. Members are expected to assist in selecting and organizing activities. Transportation is not provided. Most often participants meet directly at the program sites, public transportation is utilized for some meetings.
Teen and Young Program
Bright Star Saturdays is an inclusive social program for teens and young adults. Participants will engage in social-emotional promoting activities like music therapy, structured arts and crafts, movies, bingo, bowling and more. The purpose of the program is to give the participants a risk-free and sensory sensitive environment to socialize with their peers, while enjoying preferred activities. Once registered, participants are free to come as often as they choose.
Saturday Rec Program
The recreation program involves such activities as sports, a bowling tournament, socializing with friends, arts & crafts, viewing movies, and adult coloring. Special events such as holiday parties, dances, and theme luncheons. Professional staff in special education
& recreation direct the program.
